ARTIST STATEMENT
I live and work in my art studio. The characters and scenes that exist in the internal movies in my mind hang around me as an evolving collection of oil paintings on the walls, like I am living within a book or a film. Born as a twin on Halloween, I have always been drawn to the idea of becoming a character as well as finding and expressing my own unique identity. I often utilize self-portraiture as a way of changing costume and working out that identity. I grew up painting, drawing, and singing to myself, and when I became an adult, I began working professionally as a graphic designer and a motion graphics/video artist. I combine these interests and modes of expression today. My graphic sensibilities, as well as an interest in motion, factor into my paintings. And, to an equal degree, my paintings have always felt like film stills to me. I hope that people who buy my art, watch my videos, or listen to my music will be able to take a moment to step into these stories with me.
