“Girl Detective Paintings”
Selected for 3Arts Matching Support

July 2015

Starting in July, I will begin a new series of paintings, the “Girl Detective Paintings,” and am very fortunate to have had this project selected as one of approximately 20 projects promoted and partially funded by 3Arts for 2015. From the 3Arts site: “Participating artists post projects to our website, and we invite contributions from our collective networks. Once 1/3 of the funding goal has been reached, 3Arts contributes 1/3 in the form of a grant, which boosts campaign momentum and operates as an incentive for other supporters. When the total funding goal has been reached within the allotted time frame, all contributions, including the 3Arts match, are distributed to the artist. Donations made through this program are tax-deductible. Your contributions are helping to make important new art in Chicago.”

My campaign will feature a video interview explaining the painting series and more about my work and will be promoted on the 3Arts site.  If you’ve wanted to know how to be a part of my practice in a tangible way, please consider supporting this campaign when it launches in mid-July. Thanks so much! I will be sharing a link and more info in the next newsletter. Can’t wait to get started on the campaign (a link will be published once launched), and even more—the paintings!! UPDATE (7/23/15): THE CAMPAIGN IS NOW LIVE!! Check it out here: http://3arts.org/projects/girl-detective-paintings/

“The Quest: The Call, Initiation and Apotheosis” Selected for Exhibition at ArtPrize

June 2015

I am thrilled to announce that I have been accepted at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, Michigan (which happens to be my hometown). I will be exhibiting three paintings at DeVos Place Convention Center in September as part of the three-week exhibition that takes over the city, and will be there for the first week to represent my work enjoy the festivities. ArtPrize is one of the largest, most lucrative art fairs/exhibitions in the world. From their site: "Two $200,000 grand prizes and eight category awards; more than $500,000 is awarded. Half decided by public vote, and half decided by a jury of art experts." Really looking forward to returning to my hometown to be a part of this exciting event!
